Tacoma IVA modifications

Hello!

I am not from the UK...YET... I'm moving to Scotland in a couple of months to join my hubby.  :-)

Like any die-hard Toyota owner...I am importing my 2012 Tacoma and I know that I will need to have some modifications done to it to comply with IVA.  Is there someone in the Edinburgh area that would do these for me?   If I take it on myself...is the Hilux compatible with the Tacoma?    Not sure if it would be easier to buy new headlights that are IVA approved or modify the ones I have.

Thanks in advance for all advice!

Heather

Hi Heather , welcome to TOC 🙂

[& also, welcome to Scotland - at least you have a good name for here . Where are you moving from?]

You are in for a shock at the cost of filling the tank/running it here!

Don't know of any specialists in Edinburgh who maybe able to help you. Searching only seems to bring up one specialist, based in Essex - https://www.stsimports.co.uk . May be worth having a word with them as regards specialists in Scotland.

The following provides a guide to IVA that you may find useful - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guide-to-the-individual-vehicle-approval-iva-scheme

The following website provides some information on fuel prices in Edinburgh - https://www.petrolpricesuk.co.uk/petrol-prices-edinburgh.php

Just a point worth noting is that the Imperial gallon (UK) is larger than the US ga!lon - a US gallon is 0.832 of a UK gallon.

I'm moving from Austin, Texas and yep, I'll be missing my $2.15/gallon gas over there!!    ....but oh well...my truck is paid off and I'll be doing construction with my hubby...so we looked at it several ways from what it would cost to ship my stuff over vs ship the truck over and for what it will cost I can't replace it there for the same or less.  Additionally, I do all the own work on my vehicle so I know exactly what condition it's in...and since we want to spend a bit of time in France and Spain...having a LHD with A/C and cruise control will be quite nice!   I'm just going to pack all my stuff into my truck and then ship the truck.  🙂

I've been to Austin a few times as I have relatives there, nice city.
