Lowering Springs

It has been bought to my attention that the continual confusion of fitting lowering springs to the Yaris is still throwing up some silly arguements.

We all know that the T-Sport version of the car is 20mm lower than any other model (bar the SR if it has TTE springs as std)

Ive heard so many tales of if you fit -30mm springs will it lower the car by 10mm??

Well ill say this and funilly enough if you fit -30mm springs it will be lowered 30mm!!

The reduced ride height on the T-Sport has got nothing to do with the springs. It is the fact that the chassis is lower to the ground by said amount. This is one reason why there are different suspension parts for the TS and non-TS cars, because they are different underneath.

Ultimately yes a TS lowered by 30mm will still be lower than for example a 1.0 that has been lowered by 30mm aswell.

So basically if you fit -30mm springs youll lower 30mm! not 10mm and not 50mm or any other daft combination!

It does exactly what it says on the tin!

The TS just has that added bonus of the extra 20mm due to the difference in the chassis.

Now get ya credit card and buy some new springs! :D

(ill link this to the info thread for future reference)

t-sport springs are within reason to work with the chassis

they are shorter yes but im just saying that no matter what you fit you car will be lowered by that amount!

Do the shock absorbers have a role to play?

Are they different on the TS than the standard Yaris?

yes the entire back end of the T-Sport is different to the other models

if you look on fensport youll see the koni shocks for both types

ok so i have lowered my t sport with 40mm springs , so that means that its lowered 60mm?

You had 20mm springs on to start with. So your car was 20mm lower.

You replaced the 20mm springs with 40mm, so your car is now 40mm lower.

If you want your car 60mm lower, you’ve guessed it, you use 60mm springs!

Or am I the one confused?

Read the 1st post

the CASSIS is 20mm closer to the ground compared to the other models (nothing to do with the springs!)

the springs are shorter YES and will lower a 1.0 if fitted to them

fitting -XXmm springs to the car will lower it XXmm

:ffs:

sup - yes they went in the post yesterday

Now I’m confused!

Surely the height of a car is determined by what it sits on? Like wheels springs shocks and other suspension bits.

If the above mentioned parts are oversized it would look like this:

or if it’s on lowered bits then it would look like this

Or am I being to simplistic?

Way i read it is this SUP ,

you got 40mm lowering springs you car car is 40MM lower!

BUT it would be 60mm lower than a standard yaris!

However put your car next to a tsport and youll only see 40mm difference...
