Hello, I have purchased a Toyota BJ42 from France (I also have a FJ40 and a hilux Invincible), the paperwork has been lost and i'm having difficulty registering it with the DVLA. The DVLA tell me I need to get proof of the year of manufacture from either Toyota or a recognised Toyota owners club. Can you help me with this as Toyota UK don't hold information on the vehicle as it's a French car.  I have done a online VIN search and its a 1982 but I need an official verification from yourself.  

The VIN number is JT1VOBJ4200912308

Toyota Owners Club isn't on DVLA's list of recognised owners clubs. However,to get verification you need to follow the steps provided in the document linked to below:

From what I can see, it isn't an immediate process.

Alternatively, have you tried Toyota France?

That VIN is incorrect the 5th digit is a zero not an "o" and the 9th check digit is not a 2 (It's possibly a 6 ?)

I would first off check the vin elsewhere on the vehicle if you have an obd2 scanner read the vin from the ecu or other modules (depending on the year)

I know it says Toyota but check the vin with Lexus

Think i have found it, 3.4 8v diesel, 40 trim level, 1982 does that sound about right ? Just found it on the Toyota epc its one of 2 models kcw or kw

I just pulled the info off the net then double-checked it in the Toyota EPC - 2/1982 with the VIN JT1V0BJ42o0912308 - 5th and tenth digits were incorrect

any dealer can pull that info and print it on headed paper

 

Edit, KCW is a rear swing out door ----- KW is a lift up rear door with a swing out gate
