Car Key Problem

I have a 2001 Avensis (2001 Toyota Avensis GS VVT-I Auto, 1794cc Petrol, 5DR, Automatic )

Had two working keys but needed spare recently and found it would lock doors but not unlock 

Obviously the cut is correct so had to open doors by turning lock and alarm went off 

Have now found the original working key and have tried by first replacing Battery in faulty key but still only get red light on locking process 

Have heard that there is a way to resync the faulty key in case its ever needed again and wondering if anyone could advise  me on this Heard there used to be instructions in owners handbook but cannot find it in mine so posted on this forum for HELP!!!
