Engine suddenly revs to full power for no reason

Hi All,

Am new to the forum.I just bought a 2008 Auris 1.4 petrol.

It drives fine with 130,000 km but on 3 ocassions since i bought it last week,the engine has just 

suddenly when changing gear with the clutch pressed down,the engine suddenly goes on to full power.

I had to turn the ignition off to stop the engine.

Does anybody know what fault would make this happen,i have a 3 month warranty on the engine from the garage.

I do not want to own a car that does this,its obviously dangerous.

Take it back to the garage, tell them to sort it (if you want them to) or reject it.

Take Joe’s advice get it back to the garage where you bought it ASAP. If you bought it privately then Buyer Beware. Not much you can do from a legal viewpoint. Also check if a recall is live on this model wit a Toyota Dealer in Clare.

I sorted the problem.

When i got the car last week i got new floor mats in Lidl.

They were fine at first but then the drivers one moved and it was catching the accelerator pedal.

Should have seen that one!!!!!!!!

I recommend getting a floor mat made specifically for Auris, they are well worth the money and the quality is far better than store bought.

I still have the original one from the dealer in my 2007 Auris, they look more like 2 years old, not 12.

They have dealer logo on it, so not original from Toyota.
