Rpm Gauge

Hi yaris lovers,

I am planning to buy and install an rpm gauge since my 1.0L yaris does not have one. I have been looking around and I have found an interesting ‘type-R’ rpm gauge which can be programmed and which has 7 or 8 different backlight colours. It appears very appealing.

However the drawback (if I can say) is its size ! It is the size of a ‘half-used’ toilet tissue paper roll… ;) sorry for the comparison. I am figuring where to fix it. I don’t want to ruin the aesthetic of the yaris interior. So if any of you have any ideas or pics where I can fix it…??

You can have a look at my yaris at:

By the way, my car is going for his body kits installation tomorrow!! I will get it back on Sunday afternoon. I will have to go for the paint work next week and it will be ok. I can’t wait.

Waiting for your keen ideas, replies and pics for the rpm gauge matter.

Cheers

Ismael

Hi Ismael

Am also from Mauritius.

Your car looks great!!

For the tachometer, I would advise you not to get the 5" tach as it will look too big in your car. Try to get one 3.5"(inch).

Check my car out, there is a pic of my tach: http://pages.intnet.mu/kenvin/car/

Hope it helps you for your decision.

By the way I saw your car two weeks ago, In shoprite, rally car were leaving shoprite and your car was parked near the podium!

It does come with some mounting structures. You can fix it in front of the steering wheel...do u think it will be cool? Or near the front dash Speakers ?? I am afraid it ruins the dash look. That's y I am looking for pics (if any) of already fixed gauge.

By the way, which yaris comes with built in rmp gauge? 1.3L and 1.5L?

Hi Kentish

Nice car. Yia, I was at the rally at Shoprite. Was great but the rain was troublesome. Your gauge is great. Your car came with it or did u buy it locally? I will try to look for a smaller one then. My phone num is 7561580 and I live at Pailles.

Great to hear from another vitz lover from the same island.

I will give u a ring if I need to contact you. Thx

Hi there

The grille is custom made!! Bought a piece of grille. Mould it on a frame which was made especially for the car.

I bought the Tachometer via the internet. It came From the US. Try on eBay, you can nice one. Even with EL.

Will post interior pics soon.

Anyone know an online gallery where I could post my pics.

Hi there

Unfortunately its not me who did the electrical work for the tacho. I found a shop and they connected it directly to the ECU. You can also connect it to the diagnostic pin 9 I think. Noy sure about that thought. I will post the info as soon as I can scan the technical reference book I have for Yaris.
