Cleaning Alloy Wheels

I use Halfords Alloy wheel cleaner on my Audi wheels. Comes in a trigger pack, about a Fiver. Spray it on, agitate and rinse off with clean water. It dissolves all of the black dust and does a good job quickly.

On my Sera however, I use Autoglym Wheel cleaner stuff. Also does the job well. It really depends how much you want to spend.

Used to use Wonder Wheels when I had my Motorbike....that was OK too.

I use Fairy Liquid!

It gets rid of the brake dust and isn’t corrosive to the wheel. Don’t use it on the paint work though!

Have you downloaded the LexusCarCare cleaning guide?

Lots of really useful info in there!

Hi bearcat

I use wonder wheels. It goes on really easy and it comes with a small brush and pot to pour the liquid into. You just brush it onto the alloys. It starts working straight away. Then just rinse with water and yours wheels are all clean and bright again.

You can get it from Halfords for around £10

I use the same stuff and on a set of 30 year old alloys......fantastic stuff (does exactly what it says on the tin)

I just use the car shampoo....... or is that not good for the alloys?

It cleans OK, but the specialist wheel cleaners dissolve the brake dust deposits too, preventing corrosion. They are well worth using.
