The steering commands should work either out of the box, or with an extra cable provided by the unit provider.

There were 2-3 topic this year about replacing factory unit with Pioneer and Kenwood units, with unit numbers etc, and they all said it worked fine for them, but i think for Kenwod they used an adapter cable, that was bought separately, but offered by manufacturer.

Please use search on the forum to find it.

What model pioneer, you will need a steering wheel controls adapter Connects2 CTSTY002.2, CTSTY00CAA, CTSTY015.2 or CTSTY00C depending on what stereo/radio you have as standard

A picture of the factory radio will help

Weird that china brands that you can buy for 1/2 the price and get extras like camera, have steering wheel controls by default, whereas established brands for you to buy an adapter for 50 GBP.  I mean, if this was 2005 i would be ok with it, but at this age, it's just a bit greedy when you see their unit prices.
