Dashboard background lighting flickers

Hi,

started experiencing dashboard background flickering after my 62 Auris hybrid was stationary for three months when I waited in garage for a new cat.

Sometimes flicker starts as soon as I start the engine, intermittently flickers for couple of minutes on the top right side of speedo, but I had occasions, when the background light went dead (under the 80 mph mark).

I am quite a novice in electronics, could it be a fuse of sorts?

That looks like a problem with the back lighting of the panel and as such is not really DIY fixable unless you are a skilled electronics tech. It could be a bad connection (on a soldered component or LED) or an intermittently failing LED.

LED lights usually flicker like that, before they die.

Would you say part that is flickering is lit just by one led, is it just one color? If that's the case, then should be just the case of replacing the led, a bit tricky, but doable.
