The mpg's reported by users on Fuelly.com are much lower than reported by Honest Johns "real mpg", and even that is lower than mpg's reported by users on this website in various forums.

Just strange, but a standard 1.8 hybrid is often 20-30% less economical on Fuelly.com vs Honest John. How ever, I think mpg's is a mixup between US or UK units, and users are from all over the world.

You can also try comparing to the data from https://www.spritmonitor.de/en/

Data they have is all from user input, so should be real world figures.

As a user of Spritmonitor and populating every single fueling since I get a car till selling, I can recommend checking it for real data.

I also believe there is a difference between US and UK mpg as most of the online fuel converters from mpg to l/100km ask which type mpg...

Which explains the ~20% differences then.

And I feel obliged to point out this wouldn't happen if the minority hold outs switched to metric. There is only one litre and everyone everywhere knows what it is :)

For my part the only time I use imperial is for driving (distance, speed and - yes I admit it - mpg) and for golf. But I have plans to change the latter, just as soon as my game improves to the point where the difference matters
