To Mod Or Not To Mod? That Is The Question...

Got myself a yaris 1.3 sr. As im still young - this is my first car (well been driving my dad's audi tt for a while :) )

Was wondering whether to mod the sr or keep it standard whilst i save up for a t-sport. Wasnt sure if the value of the sr would depreciate quite quickly or not?

Modding your car will decrease its value, so if you are very keen on getting a TS I would save the money quicker :)

I agree. You'll get more for the SR when you sell it and you can save your modding money and put it in your "T Sport" fund!

Modding decreases value. By modding your car you limit your potential buyers as not many people want to buy a Boy Racers car.

People are also put off by the affect of mods on insurance, warranty and desirability of car to theifs.

Well it might increase it if you can find the right buyer. One with identical modding tastes to your own who wanted to do the exact same thing to the car, that is.

As far as anyone else is concerned, you reduce the potential buyer market of your car considerably.

Wow, that was weird, Robie. We near enough said the same thing at the same time!

Could be right then, eh?

By the way, Barry. Is it just for me that your avatar's not showing up? Unless you wanted it to be a little red cross in a white square, that is!

Why didn't you saved money first, and bought the T-Sport instead of buying the 1.3? I mean, now you need to start saving money all over again, so you bought the 1.3... for nothing?

Maybe he just wanted a Yaris to tide him over whilst he waits for the TS?

You wont ever get your money back. Modding is something you do over time, so you dont just throw like £5000 at it at once. Also its a personal do up, people do up cars cause they enjoy seeing it grow and expand I guess.

If you bought a fully modded car, that fun would be gone, I guess.

Saw a Corsa on eBay, wanted £5000 for it, he spent over£10,000 on Mods, and the original car must have been about £2000 at least.

You do whatever you want to - its your car at the end of the day!

Personally I'm not modding mine and am gonna get a T-Sport when I finish paying this one off, if all goes well that is!

But thats just me, so whatever you want to do, you should just go for it and ignore what people tell you to do! :D

Thats what I do - and look where its got me! :D
