87 Celica Rebuild

A "friend" recently borrowed my 87 Celica and over the weekend burned it up!

It was a cool car. Ready for paint. Some minor engine mods ( bored throttle body, exhaust, air hog/ram air thru fender) and alot of body mods.

Now since the engine has to come out, I may as well ease my pain and build it bigger & badder.

I can port & polish the head here and do the valve grind but I need info on:

cranks,cams,high end pistons,rods&mains, etc.

Or any suggestions like: strokers,swaps,induction

Thanks

Folks, I just started pulling that motor and it's lookin' bad. I found a ruptured heater hose. I'm guessing this is where the trouble started. It ran dry & overheated. At some point it was so hot that the oil pump seized up. The oil pump drive gear sheared off, timing belt went slack, jumped time and probably bent a whole slew of valves in the head. This would also have made it hot enough to crack & warp the head. Long story short, it's lookin' like a motor swap instead of a rebuild.

based on the current engines condition, get a new engine of higher power, will be cheaper and better in the long run.
