2005 XT5 Advice

Hi all , great forum I've been soaking up as much as possible.

So I've been thinking about picking up a 2005 XT5 petrol but I've been on the fence due to the good old MPG.

I'm currently driving a Mk3.5 MX5 and to be honest the MPG isn't great realistically I get around 32mpg combined I mostly use it to commute only about 17 miles each way on a country road and I'm fine with the that, so my question is would the Rav 4 be roughly comparable? I really dont want to be in the MX5 for another winter especially if it snows :)

Does this one look ok on the surface?

Hmm looks like it was MOT yesterday:

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):

  • Nearside Rear Lower Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement Trailing arm mounting bush (5.3.4 (a) (i))
  • Offside Rear Lower Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement Trailing arm mounting bush (5.3.4 (a) (i))
  • Nearside Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material Brake pipe to first rear flexible hose (1.1.11 (c))
  • Rear Brake hose has slight corrosion to ferrule Both sides rear flexible hoses (1.1.12 (f) (i))
  • Nearside Front Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge Depth 3.0mm on inner and outer tread (5.2.3 (e))
  • Offside Front Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge Depth 2.0mm on center tread (5.2.3 (e))

My 2005 petrol auto does 24-26 in Jersey, which is mostly slow driving, with a fair bit of start-stop, and lots of short journeys, a bit less in Winter.  If I drive very gently, I can stretch it to 27-28 in warm weather.  For the journeys you described, I would expect at least 32 in a manual in warm weather.

I had a 2004 XT3 petrol 2.0 Manual was superb one of the best cars I’ve owned so reliable and great this time of year. I would stay clear of the diesel.

Going back to your original question, I think it looks good.  Try offering £2750.
