Right

i decided since i was bored id start to debadge. Only thing iv took off is the toyota logo at the rear end of my yaris.

Iv got all the black plastic adhesive stuff that was used to stick it on, but now im worried. From the edges of where the Badge were, a thin & clear layer of something is also peeling off, someone said it may just be the adhesive, but iv been peeling a bit more off and its going further than where the Badge was? Also the area where the Badge was looks a different shade of silver, you may say this is because of the sun, but what about the gaps between where the badge was, this is also the different shade of silver.

Its like theres a layer of something over the paintwork, its peeling off from the edge of the badge outwards (altho the badge isnt there nemore)

:(

just curious as what the clear thin layer is. coz i dont wana keep peeling and peeling until its a huge patch (if this would actually happen) dont wana end up havin a patch and finding out its the protective layering of the paintwork!

Noooooooooooo, don't keep peeling it off. It could well be a lacquer coat.

This could also account for the slight shade difference of the paint behind the Badge. Wipe the area with Meths and see if it removes more of the clear stuff, if it does then it's not lacquer, but if it doesn't it could be.

If you decide it is lacquer, feather the edges with v.fine wet and dry and re-lacquer the area missing. A few coats and some polishing should sort it out.

is it easy, well, could someone like myself re-apply laquer and get it looking fine again?

its easy to do, you can use touch up bottles

you might be peeling off the sealant coat that goes on over the paint,i'd stop and take the the car to a specialist now at this stage to check what you've done

if the different colour part is still shiny the you just need to t-cut it

yeah they do sell it, dunno if they sell the spray can version

you apply the touch up like you would do with nail polish

Spray cans are the way to go. It's a much more even coating and requires less flatting and polishing than brush on stuff.

This advice is total sense! Stop now and take it to a dealer.

I think you're removing a laquer coat. The colour of my car is almost matt and then is covered with a gloss laquer. Both are very thin. It's what's called "low hiding paint" apparently.

Please get it checked before you do any more damage. T cut is not a good idea until you know what you are dealing with.

anyone with anymore advice?

i think it looks like laquer! and my mates cousin who works on cars said from what iv described its the laquer, so i havta use some 1200 wet n dry paper to smooth off existing edges, then spray 3 very light coats of laquer in 10minute intervals, then wait a week and use t cut!

take it 2 a specialist bodyshop or get you local chip away guy to take a look, dont do it yourself u could get runs in it and then it would look worse :( and cost u more to get repaired,

you could go see your local graphix shop and get a cool sticker!!!
