getting to grip with this little car and it's faults....

i noticed that there's been water in the rear headlining in both corners. I'm blaming that on the high level brakelight gasket, could it also be the tailgate hinge gaskets...if it has those?

is the high level brake gasket available seperately, as I'd have thought toyota would be giving thse away like confetti by now.

or shall i get the silicon sealant out and run a bead around the existing gasket?

Hi

First I’ve read about water ingress in the head lining. Hmmm. Wish I had the answer to this one. I’m currently dealing with water ingress in the boot pan area. I’m sure the boys will come up with a few suggestions.

either of your options will work fine

if you are going to silicone the light in then i would change all the bulbs to leds

you'll never have to disturb the seal again

I've got some sealant, should I take off the old gasket first?

always remove all traces of any old gasket / sealant before applying any new seals

Took the lights out and the gasket was really poor condition, it was almost sponge like. I looked in the recess and there was water in there.  A bead of sealant and I think I've got a good seal. If not I'll do it again.

Thanks for the help

  • 3 weeks later...

It rained heavily so had a quick peak I'm the ago boot.  Headlining was dry and from what I can see so was the wheel well.

Whoo-hoo
