so you would not recomend. Is the factory sub active? and how hard is it to get behind the GPS unit ?

if you are talking about 120 W super slim sub, yes it is active, and I dont think you should get it in yourself unless you did that sort of work previously...

i fitted rear parcel shelf Speakers in an old golf but it was hard work running the cables to the back ...

what route would you recomend to get a sub in the boot ?

You will get all the wires and diagrams for fitting it under your passanger seat - so i dont reccomend you fit it in the boot, it really doesnt make any sense to do so... as long as you can get diagrams with actual subwoofer, that you will be set to go... it shows set by step methods to install subwoofer specifically for your yaris and fitting kit is included for your yaris (if there is a separate fitting kit).

I never saw anyone installing it to Yaris, but for example for my Corolla, we had to remove half of the dashboard to wire everything, so its a lot of work and you can screw something up

it is a corolla .... ... so do you have the colour GPS too? i did not get a clear answer but if you do does the colour GPS have a dedicated sub out put ??

Hi,

sorry for some reason I though u were in Yaris... no I dont have navigation installed (not an option in my country), but i dont think any toyota's have dedicated sub out or line out for that matter... you will get all info with the kit - or you can at least ask it from dealer... how much is dealer charging for install?

You will need to remove the cd player, whole console and seat in order to get sub under the seat... if you feel comfortable with doing that, then you wont have an issue...

where u from ? i have been looking on the internet and have found some sony gear:

xm-1502sx (1*760w)

xsl151p5 15'' pentagon sub

dont know if its any good.... but the toyota gear does not get great reviews and is over £200 and i can get that sony stuff for £175 and it should be better ... dont know if any one has any views on that kit ??

i think i will ask the dealer to fit the wires as you lot are making it sound like a bit of a job ...

Bosnia and Herzegovina ;-)

Toyota sub is decent stuff - its 120W active sub, 50 mm thick only... obviously, it will not create bang as bigger boot installed subs but its decent... TS speaker setup is decent, so all i needed is some extra bass... i even set it to half strenght only and it sounds good all together

if you want something else, i reccomend going to your local car audio shop, and ask them for reccomendation... they will be much better source of info for other subs than internet itself, and their installation should be fairly cheap... since corolla has been around for more than a year, they shouldnt have any issues with installing it

  • 2 weeks later...

... i got some cheep stuff over the web (decided that for the money i could do better) got a bit carried away as there was only £20 diff between the

pre made sony sub (8" and 200w max) and a 15" sony sub and 760w sony amp ... ive spent all weekend making the sub to the shape of the corrolla boot. anyway ive now a very ****** off girl friend and only half a boot :). It does sound nice and ways a ton as the only wood i has was 30mm MDF

I think i will get Halfords to install the wires

..... unless any one knows a deeler in the sussex area who is good

To be honest with you mate - if you are keen to have your wiring neat - do it yourself - afterall - it's your car - and why pay some teenage scumbag saturday worker at Halfords who barly has more experience than yourself who has to rush the job to get it done inside half the time you have actually paid for so his boss can make a profit? I went through the whole paying for a good job phase and finnished up with nothing but an empty wallet - no one will take as much care of your car as you will - and if you have managed to build a custom box to fit your boot nicely I would say your more than capable of routing a few cables down the car. If you get any questions about the wiring just ask - we will be able to help you out!

Using 30mm MDF is great for subs - it sounds much better, and although not important with your sony, with perticularly the JL Audio W7 range you need to use 1 inch MDF and reinforce it otherwise the Sub will simply distroy the box! If you want to make the box sound even better, seal round the inside with silicone seleant, then mix up some resin, pour it into the box and swill it round until it sets to form an air tight coat over all surfaces on the inside of the box - the key when building seal subs is to make sure they are really air tight - when all finnished and driver is mounted, you should hardly be able to move the cone as no air from inside the box should be able to escape.

Steve.

PS... Is your girlfriend ****** because you only have half a boot or because your garage, drive and whole front of your house is covered in MDF dust?
