Looking At Buying A Mr2

My friends brother is selling 2 cars. One is a 93 300ZX Turbo and the other is a 91 MR2 Turbo. From what I have read, both are very nice cars. I have heard that the MR2 is one of the best sports cars ever made. The MR2 has some engine problems and the suspension needs work. I think the suspension will be easy and prolly needs to be upgraded anyway, but the engine work I think will be more difficult and expensive. I don't remember what exactly was wrong. They want 1,000 for the MR2 and like 7-8,000 for the 300ZX. Do you think the MR2 is worth buying?

BTW--I am new to foriegn cars and to autos in general as I am 17. I have a chevy S10 which is my daily driver and will last a long while and shouldn't need any major repairs. I want to get a hobby car, something nice with power that I can work on and get to run perfectly.

Tell me what you guys think.

Find out what's wrong with the engine .. it may be something simple ..

Or how about a new engine .. you guys in the US love you engine swaps .. have a look at www.mr2faq.com for a US based MR2 owners list where they seem to do be able to do anything to the good old '2.
