Avensis key sync

Hi,

I've a 2012 Avensis (T27) however my spare key no longer works. The key is OEM Toyota that was supplied with the car when new but I've not needed to use if for a good number of years. I've replaced the Battery in the fob but still nothing. Is there a way to resync the key to the car? I recall doing this with a previous Astra  suffering the same problem after a period of inactivity.

Is your question about the key, or the key fob?

Is the problem with lock/unlock only?

You need to explain the issue a bit better.  I'm guessing physical key, not the smart one?

I haven't got the solution to getting the key working, but what I have done for years is rotate the keys every so often. This helps to keep one key from wearing due to being over.
You may need to find an auto locksmith, or if you feel technically up to it, use Techstream to program or re sync the key, as in this video -

Fob  - it wouldn't unlock, lock or turn off the alarm.

Turned out to be nothing more than the Battery. I'd replaced the cell however all four in the pack turned out to be u/s despite being well within date.
