Service for 2006 Yaris 1.4 Diesel

Hi all,

New member here. I have a 2006 1.4 Yaris diesel, it’s only done 70000, reasonably easy, miles and still runs great.

It’s had interim services for the last couple of years and so I’m looking to have a more comprehensive service this time, especially as I will be doing more miles this year.

Any tips on national garages to use or good ones in the West Yorkshire area? Also any think to look out for in the list of things they check? I’m considering a main dealer but the price is just so high, but equally never quite sure about smaller garages.

Any advice or suggestions are much appreciated.
Thank you

I would personally avoid any of the big chains, others might disagree though!

Could you maybe ask around locally for recommendations of a local independent?

Yes, main dealer prices are ridiculous. I've decided, now at almost 6 years, to use a local, recommended independent. I used main dealers right up to 5 years old to avoid any possible hassle in the event of a warranty issue.

Go to online forums for your local area for recommendation of a local mechanic, u get more value for money. Don't bother about dealers, u don't need to maintain any warranty. Or just search and pop into some local mechanic and ask for a quote.

You could try:

Trading Standards Approved. I've no connection with them, but have found contractors through them in the past and unlike such sites as 'check-a-trader.com', the traders do not have any control over recommendations and criticisms. I believe any trader who gets negative comments is removed.

Exactly, I don't trust this type of sites because some, as Bob suggests, will not publish negative reviews. No names!
