Does anyone refurbish fuel pumps?

Recommended Posts

Hi, my lovely Verso TR D40 has sprung a leak on the fuel pump. The main dealer wants £1800 to replace with a new one but given the car's age that's not economical for me (it's a 2009 plate). I'm based near Cambridge so I was wandering if anyone on this forum can recommend a specialist that can refurbish the fuel pump. I really can't afford anything over £500 but have no idea what these things would normally cost. Many thanks.

You can take a gamble on a used one from a breakers, you may be able to get a recon item for £5-600  (price off the top of my head)

A quick look on ecp, £640 before discount

Edit. First thought have you got a second opinion, main stealers are well known for firing the parts cannon at cars, a common issue is the suction control valve on the 2.0 and 2.2

Hi, thanks for that. Yes I got a second opinion from a non dealer. They quoted £700 inc VAT which seemed about right going by eBay. I have however just found a specialist that will recondition the pump for £300 + VAT, so I'm happy with that.
