At 23 you're not too old to go to Uni. and get a degree in something (that's assuming you want to do something that a degree would help you achieve).

You're still young enough to make a career change and your A-Levels will still get you onto a course and Uni's often make the entrace requirements a bit lower for "mature" students. On my course about half the students were over 25 (myself included) so it's not like you'll be the oldest in the class or owt (we had a 50yr old when I started)

The hardest bit about going to Uni after a job though is not having any cash, I worked for a few years before Uni and I certainly noticed having an empty wallet. I'm sure with pub experience you could get a decent part time job to bump up the wages.

Seeing as he has left uni once, i take it that it wasnt for him? (ed)

See a bank manager, set up your own business.......

You'll never make money working for someone else!

i know exactly how you feel and i sympathise completely, i left school with great a-levels found that uni wasnt for me either and have ahd eight jobs in three years because ive hated everyone of them!

My advice is to seriously consider setting up on your own, there are loads of organisations out there to help you, and loads of exhibitions all the time for new businesses

try talking to business link (should be in yellow pages) or if you find yourself unemployed cos you cant stand your other job...try princes trust.

also go into some local banks they all have small business managers and buckets full of booklets they can give you :)

hope you find something as i know how frustrating it can be

Another one thats in the same boat, i spent a year a uni and hated it with a passion. NOw i'm stuck in a dead end job that i hate just as much. I've decieded to apply for air traffic control college www.nats.co.uk Not for everyone but can't argue with the hours or the wage B) . I'd go down the setting up your own business route. You've tried uni and didn't like it, whats going to be different about it this time round!

This is justy my own experience, but I went to Heriot-Watt in Edinburgh and dropped out after 1 term. I didn't let that phase me though and went to Sheffield Hallam instead and never looked back. You never know being older and wiser you may have a totally different outlook this time round if you did decide to go.

I think its Fair enough though if you absolutely hated learning, but having been there myself it could just as easily have been that you just went to the wrong Uni for you if you didn't like it.

I think setting up your own business is a good idea if you can get the capital to start-up and are willing to make a lot of sacrifices early on. I personally wouldn't but that's just because I'm lazy.

Good luck anyway whatever you decide to do

Yeah the responsibility is massive, basically you've got a plane full of peoples lives in your control. One slip up and thats 500+ people dead

hrm personally i LOVE being at uni and decided that i HATE working a 9-5 as i'm doing now as part of my sandwich course.

But i guess if its not your cup of tea, u can try some of the home courses they have and get qualifications that way.

TBH most places don't take that much of a notice of our degree, it seems to be based upon experience.

You say you've worked in bar's and managed them. that tells me that you have good communication/people skills, and that you can handle managerial jobs. Something that a lot of places r looking for.

i think it all comes down to personal preference, if you didnt like uni but didnt mind learning then there are other ways to get qualifications,

but like z said most people prefer experience to grades at the end of the day.

to me it sounds like your previous jobs have been very active (i.e always onyour feet) so dont make the mistake of going for an office job because you will most likely get bored very easily, (speaking from experience)

did you want something totally different?
