New Corrolla GR Sports Owner

Hi All

Just acquired a Corolla GR Sports 2L Hybrid as a replacement for a Golf GTD and what a revelation

The GR Sports does everything the GTD did but in a more relaxed manner. This vehicle is more than capable of

exceeding 120 mph so why is there a speed limiter set at 112 ?

The media screen for satnav is unreadable but as I already have a Tom Tom so i'ts  not an issue but its pretty diabolical.

The sales brochure stated the car has powered lumbar support adjustment however only found out its on driver side only by reading the manual

which is a bit chaotic to plough through anyway.

Now we come to the main bugbear the rear hatch door oh dear oh dear. The rear of the vehicle under wet conditions gets a thick coating of road filth

whether you like it or not. The consequences are no rear camera picture and when you try to open the door you invariably get that road filth all over your hands on opening

the door. Toyota should have considered the electrical switches for door opening which are only  quoted for the Touring/estate version of this vehicle.

One USB port below the front dash is a bit mean there should be at least two. The location of a power outlet in the console is a ridiculous place to site it.

Toyota must have run out of ideas when they finalised the design of this vehicle namely what is with the soft cloth in the centre console and the four recessed

hexagonal bolts located therein really !

Any person who purchases this vehicle I strongly recommend you swap out the Falken tyres as they are known too have a long stopping distance in the wet. I also found that driving the vehicle to be too skittish with the Falkens and swapping to Michelin Pilot Sport 4's the vehicle is quieter and much more stable especially on our potholed roads.

On a positive side the boot space  and sound system is OK and I don't have a problem with rear seat accommodation despite press criticism. I have only done a few hundred miles so time will tell .
