What Is Jae ?

I've been asked what JAE is so I'll try and answer it as best I can, any other comments would be appreciated if I miss anything....

JAE is the Japanese Auto Extravaganza (exscuse the spelling). In simple it is the annual motor show specifically for Japanese Cars, open to both clubs and the public.

The event always takes place on the last weekend of July, so this year it will be starting on the 25th July and finishing on the 27th, it is up to the attendee's whether they want to stay the full duration or just come up for the day.

The large majority of Japanese Car Clubs in the UK and some from Europe will be attending, it is pretty much guaranteed that you will see over 3000 cars there this year, from stock small cars up to heavily modified Super Jap cars. Due to the fact that it is a 3 day monster event you will also see manufacturers of modifications for Jap Car's, mobile food sellers.

I'll be booking the Friday off, having a lay-in, drive up when I wake up and try and find someway of helping setup the stand if my services are required and stay till the Sunday, I'll make sure I have my laptop as I am sure I'll be taking more than 250 photo's this year which will need putting on the forum....

There is a field for camping for those who want to stay, drink socialise and get 'slightly tipsy' (aka getting absolutely rat ubikd) and the Saturday night is famous for it's Fireworks display....

I know that there will be a number of heavily modified cars on our stands and am sure a few surprises will be arranged....

Really it is the biggest meet of the year and definately should not be missed, even if you can only pop up for a day it is well worth the trip, the fact that camping is available makes it easier for those who have a long way to travel....

JAE does have it's own website (JAE Website) ands it own forum which will get busier as the time gets closer, it will be a monster this year....

The event takes place at Billing Aerodrome in Nottinghampshire and I believe is free to club members as Steve has already paid for the club lot (personally think this should be recouped in some way from club members as would only be approx £1 or £2 each) as there has been a lot of organisation which has gone into this event.

As Toyota Owners Club has one of the biggest stands it is very impolrtant that we get as many members there as possible otherwise it will be very difficult to get as good a stand for next years event.

I have tried to answer the question as best I can but will no doubt have missed a large amount of info which will get added by other members as they read this post but I hope this has wetted your appetite.

OK I'm up for that - do members cars go on the TOC stand for the weekend then? I'm up for the camping as well - sounds like a hoot - do we get a TOC area also for that?

Steve.

TOC stand is for TOC members so you'll have a place to park your pride and Joy.

Campsite isn't really organised as far as I am aware but if we can get a solid number of people who we know will camp on each night I can't see any reason why we can't get an area marked off during the day for members so we can set all our tents up together and have a central area where we know we'll be, something I'll speak to Steve about (or hope he comments on this post).....

I'll pin this thread as it is the biggest event of the year and would be good to get some suggestions from members...

Maybe we could look into getting some cheap club t-shirts made up for the event so we know who we all are :D :D :D

camping is done in a special area... you can see your cars from this point.

Security will be done overnight anyway.. have not heard of any problems...

Does that mean you can give me a lift to a local supermarket after we park up and setup as I am not sure an Mr2 can hold 2 days of booze, tent and clothes for 2 people, or is that just being cheeky.....

really hope the weather's like last year which was great– if it rains I'll not be happy coz I've always be averse to camping and I don't want to be put off!

besides the possibility of it turning into a mire would be like hell

What are the alcohol prices there like as I am sure the supermarket will be a lot cheaper for alcohol....

Jake, can I take it your other half is not so interested in cars, neither is mine although sshe's finds some of them amazing (her favourite is Carl's Sera's which she is sure is hers) just because thats the shape of car she really likes.....

We'll have to get together at JAE...

So there's something for the other halves who don't like car's to do while they become car divorcees for the day ?

Or does that just consist of drinking, drinking, and more drinking....

A load of sunshine would be great although it would be very amusing seeing the carnage if there was a massive downpour on one of the nights seeing all the sports cars trying to get out of the mire :D :D :D

I'm into moutaineering so I go camping quite a lot - I've got a big frame "mess" tent which we always put up when there is a big group of us going camping, you can get a barbque going in there and sit round in the cossy warm getting ****** to your harts content - whatever the weather - I could possibly bring this down as a TOC "base"

Superb idea.... I am just hoping my friend doesn't l;ose his before the weekend as really don't fancy buying a tent for the 2 nights of the year I would use it....

Having a large tent that we could use as a central metting area would be great, we would have something to aim for later in the evenings after a few beers...

Roadrunner,

I am sure we will be asking people to enroll on a forum list closer to the event, there will be space but we need ot know exactly who is going....

It'll be great on the stand if we could get all the marques together starting with bigest to smallest, would be very nice to have the stand looing organised rather than just a hotch potch of cars :)

I never have bothered with the sites own supermarket. There's a Tesco's and Sainsburys within very easy driving distance. One is one juntion around the main Road to Northampton, the other is one junction the other way.

I may sound rather old and past it, but I always find the communal area camping a bit noisy at night (particularly 3 a.m.). I know other people who have problems with it too. Just thinking out loud but is there any requirement for us to camp on the same field or can those of us who like our sleep pitch our tents somewhere a little further away? I've always wondered this.

I've never been but that sounds like another excellent idea, a party field and a sleeping field....

Im also all in favour of having an area where you can actually get some sleep when you need it rather than walk around and have to hide behind you sunnies the next day :D

When I suggested a communal "pissup" tent I forgot to mention that it was not a good idea to put your sleeping tent withing 14 miles of it :D.
