Auris specs - buying info

Hi,

We have been looking around the web for an Auris, but finding it difficult to find much factory info on the detailed specs.

For a post 2015 icon we see the 1.2 engine sometimes listed as 1.2T or 1.2L or 1.2M   and even the engine types vary from 8NRU  or 8NRF

Is there a useful datasheet around to clarify these details so we can understand if there are any real differences ?

Again not sure if SS or TSS ? is standard on the 2015 onward Icon ? would be helpful if there was a way to easily identify if the car had that feature, eg a button on the dash or a sensor on the mirror etc ?

Would also appreciate any comment as to any real difference in ride comfort between the Active and Icon model and their respective 15" and 16" wheels.

Hi

I have an Auris 1.2T (turbo) with the 8NR-FTS engine. Mine has Stop/start fitted and a button to turn it off manually. I believe the active is the most basic model with the 15" wheels, The Icon model has everything I need. I previously had a look at a design spec model with 17" diamond cut wheels but I decided against this car.

The VED for my car is only £30 per year too which is great.

Thanks, but had seen those links,

Saw on the web a 16 reg Icon not too far away but on a dealers bill, it shows as a 1,2 M  , so still not sure what the M signifies?

The cabin seems to show a standard 3 pedal and gearstick .

Looks a nice car, low mileage and fair price so very tempted, but its a private seller ,though  no matter how the folk selling it appear, can never be sure they do not have a log book loan on it, seems the law protecting the private buyer is still not in place.

For some reason, very few Auris on Toyota Dealers forecourts ?  perhaps more trade-ins around after the March registrations ?

M is Manual transmission rather than CVT auto transmission.

If you are sure the cars is what you want but are worried about "log book loans" have a HPI check carried out this will show if there is any finance outstanding.

1.2T was a very low volume seller the 1.8 Hybrid outsold it hugely, is there any reason why the 1.8 Hybrid is not a consideration ?

Hi,

Re the log book loans, as shown on TV just the other month, where folk had done HPI or similar checks,  not all log book loans are recorded quickly enough to show up at time of buying, or even at all, so you can still get caught out as two victims of the program showed.

Though just over a year later the debt did show up on the HPI check , they were unable to claim because the protection was only for upto 1 year after the purchase, so they lost their cars and their money.

Only seen one second hand Auris on two different Toyta delaers forcourts and both were much later expensive models.

We were looking at the 1.2 as the 1.8 hybrids  seem to be about 50% more for a 2016 model.

Are there any issues with the 1.2  per se ?  seems quiet powerful  with  better  0-60 than our 1.6 Corolla.

Contributing to the reason why you having difficulty finding a 1.2 Auris is as Devon Aygo said, the 1.2 was hugely outsold by the hybrid.
When the 1919 Corolla was launched it was available as 1.2 petrol, 1.8 hybrid and 2.0 hybrid. Towards end of 1919 Toyota announced the end of producing 1.2 models as they accounted for only 6% of sales, so only hybrids available.

Reason why hybrids are up to 50% more then a 1.2 is obviously they cost more new, but they hold price pretty well due to low emissions/high mpg.  Don’t forget therefore, when you come to sell a hybrid you will still get a good price, for example you see 2008/2009 gen 2 Prius selling for £4500-£5500.
