Fuel Tank - Interior Access

How would the problem of replacing the fuel pickup gauze in the fuel tank of my 2005 Corolla 1.4 D4D saloon be best approached? Is it possible to clean the interior of the fuel tank and lines of microbial deposits without costing a fortune?
