CVT (continuously variable transmission) reliable?

Recommended Posts

Heard the VAG DSG had issues, but now the 'wet' DSG is more reliable than the old 'dry' DSG

Was looking at alternatives to the Toyota Hybrids, and came across the Hyundai Ioniq and Kia Niro - both use DCT (Dual Clutch Technology) : apparently are 'dry' clutches 😲

So, was wondering about the Toyota CVT, and came across these 2 articles ; true?

Didn't know there was a CVT and an e-CVT 🤔

The Auris thread seem to imply the CVT not covered by extended warranties 😲

I would dismiss that first article out of hand, it talks about CVT being relatively new technology.......what the actual?????

I have not seen a problem with a Toyota CVT ever, not saying they never have problems but I have never personally dealt with one, they are pretty much bomb proof in my book
