Right I did have a big well written posts which I post. And then I found myself drunk at 9PM trying to make this.make sense.

I've noticed alot of people talking about like £300 "tuning boxes" that I assume are piggyback units that force signals through the obdII ports.

Does this mean the ECU in the 2008 d4d isn't remappable?

I'm looking at replacing the Garrett gt1444v with something with the same (or similar enough to make mating plate work) footprint but higher pressure so coupled with fmic should see decent returns as the injectors seem to be rated for much higher flow rate than required for this application at stock level.

But obviously if our ecus aren't remappable then I'd be better off going S/C route, but that's a whole nother ball park I don't wanna deal with.

Has anyone used aftermarket standalones like megasquirt etc?

Anyone got a heads up on turbos with the same/similar footprint? Am I better off going hybrid/ceramic?

I can't believe I'm the first to breach this void. Petrol isn't the be all and end all 😉

Your in for an expensive headache going standalone as the bcm needs the information from the ecu

A tuning box is just that it intercepts the signal from the and tells the ecu what it wants to hear, yes it can be remapped but you have to phone a few places tbh

OBD2 is for diagnostics only

if the engine is over 100K miles you will likely kill it in short order as it will not be happy with the extra boost

All said and done your looking at £1500 plus
