Avensis won't start

Hi All,

This is my first post!

Unfortunately it is because of a problem of my own making... I have killed (or put it into a coma) my 07 Avensis.

I bought the car, but it only had 1 grey (valet) key, so I couldn't use the remote (there wasn't one) or set the alarm. Toyota dealerships were polite but unhelpfull with my options to get new keys cut, so refering to other forums, I purchased a 2nd hand immobiliser, and 2 used 3-button keys. I am OK with a soldering iron, so wrote over the data in the immobiliser eeprom with a virgin file. I got 2 new key blanks from eBay, which I got cut to match the grey key, and placed in them the internals from the used keys.

My original immobiliser had not been touched, just in case, I thought!

I managed to program the replacement immobiliser with the re-built keys - the security light goes out with the black keys, stays on for 2 seconds with the grey key. I connected the OBD socket pins 4 & 13 with the ignition on for 45 mins... but the car won't start!

With the programmed keys, the engine sounds like it tries to start for about 2 seconds, with a unregistered transponder in a key, it just cranks without firing.

I replaced the immobiliser with the original, and tried to start the car - same result, it won't start! it runs for about 2 seconds then stops.

I have a feeling that the immobiliser is just not talking to the ECU - any advice would be appreciated..
