Engine Management Fault

Any help would be appreciated.

I have an engine management fault and the VSC off is flashing. I'm new to OBD2 but managed to get the following codes:

P0453 Evaporative Emissions pressure sensor - High Input

P0037 Heated oxygen sensor Low input (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

C1301 Unknown

P0374 Unknown

P0100 Mass air flow sensor/volume air flow meter circuit malfunction

The car drives fine but when I reset the fault will come back after driving for 5 minutes. Any ideas?

C1301 is an abs pressure issue (when was the brake fluid last changed ?)

P3704 is related to the o2 issue

P0453 - check the fuel cap seal, could be a stuck sensor

P0037 - the heater circuit need to be tested with a multimeter for resistance then power and ground

p0100 - what condition is the air filter in ?

I think the C1301 is what is causing the car to suddenly spring up the engine management light. I have noticed that when I clear the fault and drive it again the abs warning light is the first thing to come on, followed by the flashing VSC light. The day the fault came up the car had been parked for a long time and the parking brake was jammed on. Could this fault be caused by a wheel sensor? I have noticed that the abs light sometimes flicks on when the car is not even moving.

That code is for the pressure sensor in the abs block, it can because there is debris in the fluid, bleeding the whole system may do the trick

OBD codes are just a symptom not the problem, you use them as a diagnostic tool

Thanks for your help flash22. I will certainly try bleeding the brakes first and replacing the fluid next.

I have read elsewhere that C1301 is an Inconsistency between the brake light switch and the pressure sensor and usually causes the abs light to come on. I was just surprised that this could occur when the engine is not running. Perhaps the sensor?

  • 3 weeks later...

I have replaced the ABS block, changed the fluid and bled all the brakes but still have a VSC off light, an ABS light and engine management light. All of the same codes appear.

Have you checked the air filter, did you inspect MAF sensor for any debree, did you test the 02 sensor by checking resistance on it, to see if it's good?

Hi,

Did all these errors kick off at the same time?  If they did then it might be worth checking/remaking all your under-bonnet earthing connections - perhaps a bad earth is preventing an ECU from having a 'clean' 12v supply?

Just a long-shot!
