Surprised by the amount of contaminate in new paint

Like most people I washed the RAV4 this weekend, For the first time and after 2000 miles, before sealing the paint.

I was surprised and shocked at the amount of contaminate in the paint, I would hve thought being a new car that the paint should have been fairly clean, however when I applied Q2M Iron Out, the car turned purple on every panel.

Well at least I know it's clean and sealed now.

Take care all.

Same here, white car turned very purple and took a bit of effort to rinse the iron fallout off. Unfortunately, weather changed and I need to wash it again and then seal it.

It's the way they are stored and transported, it may have sat dock side for a month before it clears plus it's likely to have sat in the dealers compound for another 4-8 weeks

Glad I did do the iron out before sealing it. I couldn't believe it.

I find all new cars need some serious attention.

My current vehicle when I received it needed a multistage polish let alone a decontamination.

Looking forward to getting my Rav4 when the lockdown is over so I can get that paintwork looking fantastic

Your after pic looks fantastic, what did you use to get it that good.

I used menzerna 3800 polish with green hex pad on the flex 3401.

Each time wiping off with some eraser making sure everything thing was off.

It took a bit of experimenting with different combos but found that combo works the best of Japanese paint.

That's the great thing with black paint, when it's clean and shiny there is nothing finer 👍🏻👍🏻
