I’m about to drive my youngest (2.5 years) grandchild in our Prius+ 2017.

Is it recomendable to mount a backwardmounted car seat for children in Prius + 2017 front passenger seat, if I turn of the airbag? Is there any side mounted airbag in Prius+ ?

Yes there are side airbags, but they won't interfere with the car seat, as they go across the door/window, not out of it.

It's far safer to put a car seat in the rear of a car, not the front, so if you can, do that.

The full owners manual will contain information on using child seats, including which type of child seat to use for particular age groups and whether they should be rear or front seat mounted.

Hi , best to check car manual as suggested, if you use front facing child seat in front seat no need to disable passenger air bag, turn of only when rear facing child seat is installed. And yes for a very young child rear of the car is recommended as safer place.

Thanks a lot for your advices.

Thought it would be easier to have contact with the child if the child seat are mounted in the passenger seat , when You drive alone (no more adult that can look after the child)

The manual says –

”When installing a child restraint system For safety reasons, always install the child restraint system in a rear seat. In the event that the rear seat cannot be used, the front seat can be used as long as the airbag manual on-off system is set to OFF. If the airbag manual on-off system is left on, the strong impact of the airbag deployment (inflation) may cause serious injury or even death.”

Does that mean that it’s OK to mount a reversed child car seat in passenger seat if the airbag is set to ”off” or is it to big risk if there’s an malfunction to the ”on/off” system ?

Yes, you can fit rear facing child seat on front passenger seat as long as air bag is turned OFF , this is the reason most cars have this function.
