Hi all, I have a 2007 Estima 2.4  Aeras petrol. Before this I owned a Lucida which we loved - the kids thought it looked like a space ship!

Anyway, the estima has a very small interior light in the roof, yellow/orange coloured and in a deep recess next to the usual reading lights above the front windscreen near the rear view mirror. It's always on so far as I can tell.

Does anyone know what this is for?

Many thanks

Tom

A complete guess here, I've never even sat in one of these - to illuminate the dashboard?

Perhaps its brightness rises and falls with the dash adjustment control?

Does it point in the general direction of the centre of the dashboard?

No idea...mine certainly doesn't have one...maybe a sensor of some kind.?

Picture may help.

A pic may help, if you can post one

only thing i can think of it's a courtesy light

I'll take a picture. It's not a warning light or a courtesy light as not bright enough. Barely noticeable really...

Bound to be something really daft/obvious but I just can't work it out.

Cheers

Some versions of a previous generation Avensis had something similar, and it seems as though it was to illuminate the gear lever. Does it change in brightness when the headlights are turned on/off?
