How much oil over how many miles/km? Which engine do you have - 1.0, 1.3, 1.8 petrol or 1.4 diesel?

Hi, have you checked for oil leaks? It sounds like you may have a bad oil leak from somewhere, if you haven’t checked yet it is a good idea to do so.

At 218000 km, it  does not surprise much that it's consuming oil.

If it uses up around 1L per 10k km, i would consider it normal. That's my case now, and was with my previous 1.6 petrol non Toyota car.

Given the mileage and you can smell burning oil, the cam cover gasket needs replacing you  may also find the spark plug holes have oil in them too

You shouldn't need RTV other than to hold the gasket while installing it, not sure what country you are in if its in the states - Permatex ultra black is the go to
