Weird wiring Dilemma

Ok, I have a 2004 Toyota RAV4, I just fitted a led light bar to the front bumper, with my trusty multimeter I figured out what I though was the main beam wire ( checked each 1 until I had 12v going to the main beam, then turned off the main beam 0v) so tapped into that wire with a scotch lock, now this is where it gets fun, turned off main beam..... led was still lit, turned off lights......led was still lit, checked all the wires.... I had 12v on all 3 wires.... with the lights turned off!!!! But although I had 12v across all the wires the bulb wasn’t on, until I turned the stalk on, so any input would be gratefully received... all I want to do is wire the led into the main beam feed, tried looking for a colour coded wiring diagram for the near side headlights but can’t seem to find one

The headlights have permanent 12V - the lighting is controlled by ground side switching eg. connect a 12V to the light bar and use the switch negative from the headlight

imho you need to add a relay for the led bar (and a switch to turn it off, unless its an offroad vehicle only)

Edit. Red/Black should be the ground side switch for high beam

I got it figured out, I used the 12v aux socket on the centre console as my feed to a switch, then my switch live goes to the relay, meaning if I forget to turn the led bar off when I turn off the car it’ll automatically turn off as well, thanks for your help though
