I've bought a scanner and it only shows ABS Codes but doesn't recognize the obd2/eobd

Is there any scanners that would work on a Toyota Avensis T251 2005?

It's possible you have a faulty scanner. Borrow or try another scanner before buying/replacing. You did have the ignition on?
Before you waste any money on another scanner, check the fuse for the OBD. You will need to consult the owners manual for the fuse location. I own a Mk3 and when trying to fix a fault, I accidentally short the wrong pin. Another cause could be a fault with the main ECU. Check EFI fuse too. I saw this video yesterday - 

Is your car running? If not no diagnostic tool will work if the ECU is faulty and not communicating!
