Spare Wheel ?

Sorry in advance about bringing this subject up again, but I am after either a space saver wheel or even a full size SR alloy wheel.

I know I'll have very little luck, but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case.

Cheers

I've heard that Mazda CX-5 space saver fits RAV4.

Hi, good to hear from you again.

I'll do some research on that, thanks.

They are reasonably readily available - see here for example. Note that, as they say on the site, the 17" space saver is suitable for RAV 4's equipped with any size wheels from the factory. I have factory fit 18" wheels and a factory supplied 17" space saver ...

Although the spare is 17” and the wheels are 18”, it’s the tyre profile that makes the difference. Even thought the spare profile is larger overall the spare diameter and therefore circumference is smaller. See the diagram here...

I have emptied out all of my boot to regurgitate the idea of getting a spare in there.

Has anyone taken out all the compartments to see what it's like ?

Yes I have a full size spare in there. Remove the space saver, the polystyrene packing piece and importantly the small square rubber packing piece at the front of the well. The spare fits perfectly with the original tool tray inside it, but you cannot lower the floor pane to the lowest position with a full size spare.

There's no way a spare or space saver fits in the boot well once you lift up the floor compartments in the boot !!!  Certainly not in a Rav 4.3 !!!

Which is the current model - 4.5 (2019 onwards) - not the 4.3

Do you not have the spare on the rear door?

if not, how easy might it be to find and fit a rear door from a breaker?

No, mine is the 4.3 with no spare on rear door.

Far too much hassle and expense to go down the route you suggest.

I'll stick with my 18" space saver sitting in the boot.

Cheers.
