No 3rd gear when cold

I have a 1997 previa. It has overdrive, which will only engage if the engine is over 140 degrees. The problem is that 3rd gear does the same thing. I only have 1st and 2nd until it warms up to 140 degrees. Thanks

Have you checked the level and condition of the ATF.?...the delay to engage o/d is normal....is it ambient/outside temperature related.?
