Very important, the procedure to follow to start the retrofit

Before retrofitting the radio with USB3 to have Carplay, you need to update the navigation system with two official USB1 and USB2 sticks

If the installed map is one of the following "943" or "A36" or "A4D" or "B00" or "B7E" or "2017v1" or "2017v2" you do not need to retrofit. You need to buy the latest map on toyota online

If the map is "2018v1" or later you can retrofit

You will need 2 USB sticks, one of them must be at least 4 GB.

USB sticks must be preformatted with FAT32 system.

1. The intervention folder from the USB1 archive must be written to a clean USB stick.

A small USB stick will do. Let's call it USB1.

2. The file 17TMT2EU-FA00_1900.kwi must be written to the root of the disk of the second USB stick if your device is 17TMT2EU-FA00.

From now on, this disk will be called USB2.

3. USB stick 1 with intervention folder, inserted into the USB input of the system in the car, radio when

It must be activated and in the "home screen" state by pressing the HOME button.

4. After a while, you will see the Linux script running.

5. After a while, you will be prompted to restart the radio.

By pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button, turn it off and pause for 3-5 seconds. Start the car.

6. After a little wait, the script will continue.

7. After 10-15 sec. A message will appear on the screen that USB1 can be removed

and continue to update.

8. Without turning off the car engine, remove USB1 and insert USB2 (the second USB stick containing the system update file).

9. Press the SETUP button on the radio, then press "GENERAL" on the screen

and scroll down the list on the right to "SOFTWARE UPDATE".

10. A message will appear in this item indicating that new software has been found and the "UPDATE" button will become active.

11. Click "Update" and then confirm this action.

12. The MEU system update process takes about 10 minutes!

The car must be started during this entire time!

Do not turn off the engine, this may cause the MEU unit to fail!

13. When the process indicator bar reaches the end, you will be asked to turn off the car.

14. Turn on the sound and pause for 3-5 seconds. Restart the car.

15. The USB 2 stick can be removed and will no longer be needed.

! But the process doesn't stop there!

16. Once the radio has started and the screensaver with the warning has disappeared, insert USB1

and wait for the Linux script to run. It will start automatically in about 1 minute.

17. The progress of the upgrade process will be displayed in % on the radio screen.

18. When the process is 100% complete and the completion is signaled with the inscription "Finish", the car

It must be turned off and restarted with a pause of 3-5 seconds.

19. After loading the radio, wait at least 1 minute without turning off the car.

20. Go to "Software Update" and make sure that the model code of the MEU unit has been changed to FA10.

21. Follow the instructions to install the new update for the MEU.

Guys, can I ask a stupid question: are you not afraid that your car's warranty? Don't know how it is in your countries, but here in Bulgaria, Toyota dealers are very strict and if they see any modifications on the car, I suspect they'll drop my warranty. I saw a guy come late for a servicing and they told him his warranty is voided now 🙂

don`t worry. I am from bulgaria too, and no problem with warranty. After 3th year, no all moduls have warranty.

I want to share with all of you, things important to me that I discovered. By now you all understood that after the update, AA and CP only work via USB cable. What I didn't like though is that the audio quality is very quiet and the low frequencies are cut off significantly. I tried all kinds of options to improve the audio, but the only success I had was after connecting an AI BOX module (of course, bought from Aliexpress), which connects to the USB of the car, and then wifi works with the phone.
the advantages:
1. the sound is perfect (loud and high quality)
2. I don't have to plug the cable into the phone every time
3. Internet can be accessed on the module and YouTube Video works (I avoid using it because I start to get distracted and I will make some noise)
Disadvantages:
 1. The phone does not charge while using AA (this is not an obstacle for me, I can always put it on a faster charger in the car cigarette lighter or put it on the wireless charger)

Good evening, I would like some information.
I mounted the navigator on my Corolla 2022 and I also updated the map to v1 2024.
Everything works fine except for two inconveniences,
The first is that I don't see the speed limits on the map but I see those of the camera on the instrument panel.
The second is that when I use the navigator, the names of the streets and a warning of the next curve appear on the instrument panel display.
even disabling both things on the navigator.
What could it depend on?
the data is
DCU 86140-02M20
MCU 86840-K0010
17TDT1EU-DA31
17TMT2EU-FA10
Audio 1189
Navigation 1170
navdb_version 2024v1
I hope to find a competent person in the forum who can help me solve these problems

Hi everyone,

I searched USB1 and USB2 on the internet, accidentally upgraded my navigation to 1140. and now I can't install USB3, just nothing happens when I install the flash drive. Does my 1140 version have anything to do with this or is it unrelated?

My DCU model: 86140-33C50

Please, help!

Hi everyone,

Another successful retrofit made, thanks to a fellow forum member's help!

One question I have is: if I decide to purchase and update the maps on the navigation later on, will that break something with the current version of the firmware etc.? Or are the navi maps completely separate and won't be affected/affect what I've done with the retrofit?

I have started the process and after USB1, I've insert USB2, confirmed...it start updating and mid way through it showed error, that it canno update. Now if I insert USB1 - nothing happens. If I put USB2, no update is shown in Software Update. If I put USB3 - also nothing. Does anyone know how to start the process all over again?

How to download the files needed to retrofit the Camry device

You must download USB1, USB2 and USB3 from the official Toyota website www.toyota-tech.eu. You must create an account and log in. In the home menu, select « regulatory ». After selecting “Euro5/6” Select “Search” then enter the vin of a Rav4 or a Corolla or the following vin (SB1K93BE50E049677). Select “Publication Types”. Select “Technical Service Bulletin”. Select “Search” (in blue). On page 7, you will find bulletin BE-00439T-TME. This is where you need to go to download all the necessary files. You only need to take out a subscription of 1 hour or 2 hours of connection or more to unlock access to the download. It’s €5 for 1 hour and €10 for 2 hours. Choose the duration according to the speed of your internet connection because USB2 weighs 9GB and USB3 13GB.

To subscribe you must go to the Home menu then select “Buy Subscription”

image.thumb.png.2b46fcb3a8a2d6620234b25b98b46f84.png

Note the 3 passwords necessary to unzip the 3 files

I just updated to the latest 2024V2 map. It is not in USB3 or USB2. You have to buy it on eBay or on the toyota website

You must have a Toyota account associated with your own car

I advise you to update the latest card before retrofitting the device to have Carplay and Android Auto.

The navi maps completely separate and won't be affected/affect. Only the Device ID number needed to activate the new Map changes after the retrofit. For MM17 the last number is "1". For MM19 it will change to "3".The new number was automatically sent to Toyota Oneline 3 weeks after the Retrofit. I can update the maps. I just installed 2024V2

In usb3 you must rename the file 17TDT2EU-DA30_7910.kwi to 17TDT2EU-DA00_7910.kwi

There is a lot of confusion about renaming USB3 files

To be very clear, you must do the following renaming

 DCU Denso/Fujitsu

17TDT1EU-CA01_1257.kwi     become     17TDT1EU-CA31_1257.kwi                  408867ko

17TDT1EU-CA02_1257.kwi    become    17TDT1EU-CA32_1257.kwi                  408867ko

DCU Panasonic:

17TDT1EU-DA30_7910.kwi        become     17TDT1EU-DA00_7910.kwi            400725ko

17TDT1EU-DA01_7910.kwi         become     17TDT1EU-DA31_7910.kwi             358287ko

17TDT1EU-DA02_7910.kwi        become     17TDT1EU-DA32_7910.kwi            358287ko

17TDT2EU-DA30_7910.kwi       become      17TDT2EU-DA00_7910.kwi          400725ko

17TDT2EU-DA01_7910.kwi        become     17TDT2EU-DA31_7910.kwi            358287ko

17TDT2EU-DA31_7910.kwi        become     17TDT2EU-DA01_7910.kwi            400725ko

17TDT2EU-DA02_7910.kwi       become     17TDT2EU-DA32_7910.kwi           358287ko

I am not sure if all the files need to be renamed. In my case, I renamed only the:

17TDT2EU-DA31_7910.kwi        become     17TDT2EU-DA01_7910.kwi            400725ko

and that did work out without issues. The only problem is that the Toyota Online does not work. How important are all the files t o be renamed?

I see also a file that circles called:

17TDT2EU-DA01_7910.kwi            375695ko

So is the only DA01 the most important or are all the files significant? Did anyone succeed to get the Toyota Online working?

Hello Sir, does this mean that the American model cannot be updated via USB?

Do we need an external programmer? Or can it be done via USB?

Salut tout le monde

Bonjour

Merci.

When the Camry was released in the USA in 2017, it was not equipped with Carplay or Android Auto. Toyota has developed a retrofit to modernize these first Camrys with Apple Carplay only but without Android Auto. Your car must be in this case. In Europe, the RAV4, Camry, Corrola sold in 2018, 2019 had neither carplay nor Android Auto. In 2020 Toyota developed a retrofit for the RAV4 and Corrola to have Carplay and Android Auto. Only Toyota has not developed any modernization for the Camry. But the Hardware is the same on the Camry, RAV4 and Corrola. On this forum we modify the official files developed for the RAV4 in order to adapt them to the Camry. Here is the story.

Thanks for clarifying the matter sir.

Yes my car model 2019 and also have Carplay .

Okay so until now there is no way for me to add Android Auto to my car because it is different from the European version and until now no software has been developed for the American version in this forum to do that.

It's really sad that Toyota would do this.
