Avensis T25 - indicator lights stay on after locking

Hi All,

i am new here , and have introduced myself in the new members section.

i have a 2005 petrol 1.6 avensis - its the family car.

i do a lot of the basic maintenance on it myself

anyway for the past few years we noticed this problem and its slowly getting worse.

when we lock the car and the indicator lights flash front, rear & side and rather than go off like normal they stay on, sometimes one side sometimes the other, sometimes all stay on, so we have to unlock and re lock to make it go out, and sometimes this would take a few goes,sometimes it happens when driving - the indicator lights will stay on so i cant signal........ they can stay on a lot and i have to disconnect the Battery for fear the Battery drains when parking the car.

has anyone else experienced this and what is the fix - is it a faulty relay or is it a wiring loom issue/ bad connection somewhere?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

i am going to try and put in a(used 2nd hand working) indicator relay to see will this sort it but
