Strutting My Stuff

Went round to Jaxx's gaff last night to pick up the strut brace. Had it fitted in 5mins flat and drove home.

There is a difference. At first it's like some play's been removed from the steering system. Then, after a few proper roundabouts, it seems just a little bit less bendy and chattery. I can see why they don't do it to standard cars tho'... prolly a little bit too much effort on the motorway for Granny!

The unit itself is very well made and feather light with it. A steal at £50.

Piccies to follow this arvo... :group-cuddles:

Sounds great! .. So how come it requires more effort on a motorway then? I would've thought that the movement would be quicker and sharper or something.

It's more of an effort to keep a straight line now the steering's so responsive.

I disconnected the Toyota bonnet switch completly as I couldn't find a suitable place for it to go... Admittedly I didn't look to hard as I have an aftermarket alarm which has it's own switch.

What I might do is get one like the Clifford alarm has and use that instead of the big chunky Toyota one...

you will to modify the TS alarm switch yes

i actually did the same as storm and just ripped it out as the clifford system looks after it instead

the best way IS to remove the big bulky switch and put a smaller more discreet item in instead

i know a standard car that has front and rear strut braces fitted...

Yeah, but it's a car aimed at a sporty market. MR2 Turbo, right?

next question is if i need to modify it anyways, would u guys recomend that i upgrade my alarm system, was looking into some the other day as the company ive used twice for my spakers are alarm specialist and can suply and fit 1 for around 300 ish...

my main reasons for thinking for the upgrade is due to 1) ive now started to mod my car a fair bit so lil more attractive

2) this comming yr at uni i dont have parking outside my house like i did last yr, there r a few designated spots but its a highstreet so fairly busy, so im gonna have 2 park in a side road or in a lil carpark for a supermarket couple of houses down, but either way im not gonna be able to see the car, i want to make my car secure as possible

Do u peeps think the TS alarm is good enough, or would u suggest getting an aftermarket, what r the benefits compared to mine,

Cheers - took me a while to read all the way through it, but I've put my name down.

What's it like to fit? I've got the same car as SuperRetard - do I need any special tools or anything?

Ta.

Yeah .. i was meaning to ask that aswell. If it takes just 5 minutes to fit .. then is it just a matter of undoing the bolts, putting the strut over the holes and just doing it back up again?

its too easy for words! me and Dale fitted his in no more than 5 mins outside my house on the road!

you need two spanners and an allen key to fit it and thats it!

Sorry but the dealer is telling porkies!

I tested the Toyota system with the bonnet switch removed and it all still works fine, apart from the bonnet part obviously
