Hi,

Could it be that it's brand new? In reverse, you pay more attention to what goes out of the exhaust pipes.

New cars sometimes smell hot plastic on the very first miles. When I parked mine and went back to the garage a few minutes afterwards, there was a strong smell. It faded away with time.

We had this on a 69 plate Aygo which was stolen.  When we raised it with the Toyota garage they looked at us as if we were daft and couldn't replicate it. It carried on doing it till it was stolen and the replacement, an IDENTICAL car does exactly the same thing! We also notice it when pulling away in 1st. Also, the 2019 car still produced the smell in reverse a year later

The 2020 demonstrator I drove back in August did this when I was parking it back at the dealers, my own 2020 doesn't do it but it's an MMT (auto) not a manual.
