Avensis “Key detected in car” when driving

Hi,

I’ve just bought a 2010 Toyota Avensis estate with smart keyless entry and starting.

The car is great, but twice while driving the car has made various sounds as if I’m trying to lock the car, and says “key detected in car”. At first I thought this was because the key was in my pocket and I accidentally clicked it while going round a corner, but the second time it happened the key was in a cup holder.

Any ideas what could cause this?

Appreciate any help!

Regards,

Alex

Check the drivers door pin switch is working ( interior light goes on/off or door ajar warning on dash goes on/off ) if this is not "seeing" the drivers door open after unlocking the car will try to re-lock itself as it assumes the car was unlocked in error, on cars with smart entry this will cause a lock/unlock cycle as it tries to lock then see's the car still car and unlocks again.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion - am I right to assume it is working as the door ajar error does not appear? Light also turns off when the door is closed
