Oil Question

Hi to everyone

Car has got nearly 25000 km and I wanted to know if I need to do a transmission oil change and which oil should be used?

And what about engine oil? I had it changed 5000km ago ( in december 2003), should I be changing it again or only oil filter, been using motul fully synthetic oil.

Hi,

You don't really need to touch your transmission oil before some 60000 km. Depending on your driving style and conditions I would then check the oil condition and either change it or just top it off if need be. For a manual box you will need API GL-4 or GL-5 with a 75W-90 weight and for an auto box you will need Toyota T-IV ATF fluid.

For engine oil I would change oil and filter at least once a year or every 15000 km, whatever comes first. Again this is really dependent on your driving style and conditions. Myself I drive my cars rather hard, without doing silly things with it, and I keep a shedule of oil and filter every 7500 km, full synthetic for the Yaris.
