I was just wondering if im the only one here who owns a Paseo?

Oh by the way, some one might be able to help me out here...

im currently running a cat back custom 2" exhaust with a 4" exit and am considering changing it to a manifold down, de-catted system with a quad exit (two either side) will this boost or harm my performance? im kinda worried about loosing back pressure thruogh such a big exit...

Hey! Its just me!! :D But now theres two of us!

Can't help you with your Q i'm afraid but I'm sure someone will, I've just had a custom Powerflow Backbox fitted.

Your 'Seo spec looks cool, get some pics posted! :)

If you haven't heard of 'Paseopimp.com' hit the hotlink under this post for a whole world of 'Seo stuff - but this forum is a lot more active & friendly ;)

hey man. you seo is lookin good. i went for the sawn off look for the exhaust but reckon a rolloed one would have set it off more. plus i asked for the back box to be showin slighty but apparently that couldnt be done due to lack of space and nowhere to hang it.

i know bout that site, but i found it had too many childish arguments goin on, so i left it. plus nealry all the seo's on it were the mk1 version and didnt really help me much.

im in the process of changing the backlights of the dash instruments. i've changed the centre console to red, and am looking to change the dials to a blue backlight. i just cant find the bulbs that fit :(

after that, im lookin for an induction kit. Green offer a nice one for £100 or so... just hopin K&N can supply one. or BLITZ or HKS

Hey! Thanks, think i've seen some of you're posts on Pasopimp, was you're s/n 'JAG' or something? If so I think i've seen your car also - is it the Ltd Ed model? The one I saw looked wicked - I love Toora alloys!!

I found exactly the same as you - to many ppl after arguments on that board, there are quite a few 2nd Gen cars on there now tho. Ppl here are much more helpful even if no-one owns Seo's - I enjoy the exclusivity - thats why I bought the car!!

I like my green dials but I know that you can get Indiglow lit dials from the States, which look cool.

I might consider an Induction kit, Green look to be good, but i'm really more interested in styling bits as i'm such a mechanical !Removed!!!

Do you have any probs with your car tram-lining?

Catch you later!

yeah that was me B)

to be honest i've given up on moddin the car too much, i've lowered it since the pimpin board days but thats it, oh and burnt a whole in the drivers seat with a solder iron which i dont really count as a mod.

i think the air filter has to go in to help save on fuel a little bit more then power gains. im doin lots of miles in it now. even if it dont make much difference, it'll sound mental!

im lookin to buy a second car with big power, am very tempted by the Alfa 147 GTA. i can just imagine it sitting pretty in black with 19" Kahn RSC rims slapped on.... mmmmmmm... :P

Posted

Thought so, not very many modded yellow Seos around!! :D

I feel the same way as you, i'm only modding on a minimal budget, just the 15s for wheels & the exhaust - might get a p/plate but i'm also eating miles so will prob have to give in & buy a new / almost new car within the next year or so just coz of the practicality of running an older car with big miles. Whats the milage on yours? Mines coming up on 50K but will be through the roof soon!

Do you think the filter would save on fuel? I think my b/box is helping quite a bit, its only been on a week though so will have to wait & see!

The 147 would def be a good choice but - its Italian (had a Fiat before the 'Seo!!! ) Still wouldn't mind one tho!! :)

If you haven't visited Paseopimp.com recently you might not have seen Oli_Paseos car, he's a UK owner with a 2Gen - X-Racing kit (which I don't really like!) but the car is impressive - worth a look as he's getting a mag feature soon, the car was in Max Power () last month.

Have you guys thought about getting a low mileage Starlet GT turbo engine in there? ;)

Posted

Hey Carl, yea it has been done, would be pretty cool, especially as i love that dump valve noise!!! :D I wonder how much it would cost to wack a GT engine in?

Is the Sera a 1.5 or 1.6? :)

Posted

Sera is 1.5

Posted

Thats what i thought, wonder if its the same engine as the Paseo? Paseo code is 5E-FE I think. :)

Posted

The Sera engine code is 5E-FHE, I managed to get a Paseo 5E-FE engine manual at last year's JAE and most of it is the same.

Posted

Yea I thought they shared quite a few parts. :)

my name is mike, and i own a 92 toyota paseo

i love my paseo, its a great nice and lean car but only for one or 2 people. i have a big problem though. i jus blew the connecting rod. the money i gonna pay for that i might as well jus get a used engine from somtin else. i was wonderin if u guys have ne opinions or any information u can give me on what can fit in a 92 paseo, where i can get it, how much and about that starlet gt turbo engine for a paseo........ please reply ASAP

Hey Mike,

For info on the Gen1 Paseo hit the hot link to Paseopimp.com @ the bottom of my post, the majority of cars on there are the 1st generation models so that would be your best source of info.

Check the actual website as well as the message board because the board isn't all that active these days & isn't very receptive to new members...unlike here :) The site may have a section on which engine swaps are 'do-able' - I can't remember now!

By the way thats three Paseos! How many do we need before we get our own forum category :D

Photo's just in...

paseo_tail.jpg

Hmmm....

Not sure why the colours are funny, it wasn't me playing, I will try and fix them tomorrow when I am no my machine not my girlfriends when I have the right tools.....

I'll leave these up as an idea of whats coming...

Posted

Sera - 5E-FHE - 110ps / 108bhp - higher compression version of 5E-FE engine.

UK Paseo - 5E-FE - 89bhp, same capacity.

Starlet 4E-FTE - 1331cc (from memory) 135ps / 133bhp as standard.

i got the private plate on mine, that was the first thing i did.

i found little difference when i put my exhasut on, if anything it might drink a little more.

yeah air filters are supposed to allow more/colder air into the engine which means less fuel is needed cos the mix of air and fuel has more oxygen in it which gives the combustion or summin like that anyways.

so it'll sound more rally like and help on economy.

i've already clocked up some heavy mileage... im on 81k now, thats nearly 34k in the two years ive had it! :D

Posted

Thats a few more miles than mine! Any major mechanical probs?

The car is looking good, did you relocate the badges on the rear?

Think I might have to get a p/plate now coz yours looks good!! Got new rear shocks to pay for first & MOT & tax!!! (doh!)

Posted

... the only thing thats pissin me off now is the front drivers brake is squealing like a !Removed!. the brakes i got tend to fade away pretty easy just when you get goin, but apart form that its fine. oh no actually, the clutch is about to go too, it doesnt find the gears sometimes. i could be in fourth at 20mph and the revs will still fly to 4.5k!

but otherwise its fine... :)

Posted

Thats not good! Have you had any problems with tram-lining? Mine used to do it a bit with the standard wheels but with my new ones its a lot worse!

Posted

no problems with that. my fat/big wheels used to scrape the arches at the back and on the front with full lock but i just chiseled the bit that was catchin away! and then i lowered it 40mil just to make sure i chiseled enough

have you checked your traking and wheel balance?

Posted

Yea I had the wheels balanced when they were fitted & asked @ another garage who just said it was because you can't have anything other than the standard wheels fitted  & the new ones are a much lower profile & wider...perhaps I should just get the tracking done anyway? <_<

Posted

but your new whells make hardly any difference to the overall height of the things... u went from what 175/60/14 to 195/50/15 right? thats roughly the same diameter overall. and the extra width just allows for more grip. its when you start to silly like 235/40/17 when u !Removed! the handling slightly, and thats cos the rear end with probably have to much grip and cause more understeer...

i'd check t tracking if i was you. have you checked the pressure of the tyres too?

Posted

imeant oversteer :)

Posted

Yea there is no or very slight difference in overall diameter - so that can't be the problem, thats what I was thinking! <_<

Tyre pressures are all ok, I can't think what else it could be. The car's away at mo having the rear shocks replaced & then its being MOT'd by a mechanic friend so maybe he'll have some ideas once he's driven it.

The wierd thing is it only does it at low speed & then @ around 75mph...
