I have changed an auto engine and trans for a manual one in a 1996 rav4Now engine cranks but wo

Cranks but wont start. Have fuel no spark. Left the wiring on the new engine when we changed it and unplugged old one. Both vehicles were running before the swap. So swapped coil and igniter to try and eliminate possible dud. Don't seem to be getting a signal from the distributor to the coil.

Have you swapped the engine control unit as the unit differs between manual / auto, if you still have an auto type control unit plugged into a manual engine/sensors its likely very confused as to what it is seeing.

Similar could apply for sensors they along with the ECU changed though the years and if the replacement engine/sensors differ in age from the original again the ECU is likely confused by what it is plugged into now
