Engine stalls immediately after start up

Hello Again

Only my second time on here and asking yet another question...all takin' , no givin' !..sorry, perhaps one day I might have something useful to add. 😊

My 2006 1.3 VVt petrol Yaris has all of a sudden (on occasion) taken to stalling immediately after being started , never when cold but only when the engine is warm. Car drives as normal but sometimes if stopped and parked up for a short while then started the engine springs into life on the button as normal , gets up to idle speed and then just dies....

This happens totally randomly and it fires up after a few prods of the start button and all is well...until the next time , which could be on the next trip or the next week. The car is in regular use and is always fuelled up at the same local fuel station as the other cars in our family.

I would describe it as a 'fuel starvation/vaporisation' kind of 'feel' as it dies, Ambient temperature does not need to be excessively high outside for it to happen.

Any ideas folks ??

Sounds like a lack of fuel caused by a warm engine losing fuel by evaporisation.. Check all fuel unions - especially  at the front - for signs of leaks.

Best seen when the engine is cold..

Hi

Sorry for not replying sooner but I first wanted to run the fuel level low , which takes time in such a frugal car during lockdown ! Either way, I recently filled up with fresh petrol from a different garage just to eliminate the fuel as the source of the problem  - as unlikely as that is - and sure enough the fault is still there , just as random but the car will always start after the second or third push of the button.

As suggested I have checked for leaks and found none . The one consistency is it only happens when the engine is hot. I have read the codes and found none listed.

I will have to find the time to dig a little deeper, Thanks.

Next easy thing to check is the state of the plugs. They may not have been changed for a long time and have wide gaps..
