20 plate gr sport with Android auto as std and I have an annoying glitch

I have WiFi and hotspot to my phone I can't connect car to phone for calls either via Android auto or via bluetooth and all calls go to handset if I search for devices it times out saying no devices found

I connect WiFi first I can't search for any devices and if I go the other way and connect bluetooth first than WiFi it looses bluetooth after a few minutes

Tried with 2 phones and the same happens

Pretty sure in my old 69 plate  chr I had the option to connect via bluetooth teathering but can't find it in the Corolla

Also what is WiFi power ??

There are many variables with things like this including phone brand and model, version of Android and of Android Auto. I have a 20-plate Excel HB I got at the end of June and use Android Auto all the time. From day 1 it just worked after I connect phone to car via original phone cable plugged in to front USB port. Phone is Samsung Galaxy S20 5G running Android 10, Android Auto version 5.4.502264.

Maybe this support doc from Google might help for troubleshooting https://support.google.com/androidauto/thread/2467281?hl=en

Hope you get it sorted. It's very frustrating when things like this happen.

As far as I know, you cannot use Android Auto wirelessly yet - it must be connected to the car via the USB cable. You can't use bluetooth, it doesn't have the bandwidth capability. And this is how Toyota UK says you should connect your phone to the car https://www.toyota.co.uk/owners/vehicle-information/in-car-multimedia/pairing-your-android-phone

That said, the capability to connect wirelessly is there. This US magazine article explains how - https://www.lifewire.com/android-auto-wireless-4176354. I've not tried it yet.

I know about aa being a wired connection

But if I go into Google maps then say back to the Toyota main menu and use Toyota map or say select radio I have lost bluetooth and a WiF hotspot  connection

I was told by my garage that AA wont work until September.  When I try I get an error message and to unplug and try again.
