Which Boost Controller ?

:help: Hi peeps. At last i`ve got to the stage where i need a boost controller. I`d prefer a manual one. Purely on economic grounds.(Tight git)

Now then, the question is, Which one would be best? I`ve done a bit of trawling through various threads, links and even eBay and there seem to be two main contenders. Bleed type or Spring/ball type. The general concensus of opinion coming down in favour of the spring/ball type.

Would this be the best bet? (I really need convincing here  )

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

TIA Dak :D

To quote the article you pointed me a in an earlier thread...

"If you get a manual boost controller, go with a ball and spring type instead of a bleeder type. Ball and spring controllers keep the wastegate shut until you approach the desired boost limit while bleeder types let the wastegate partly open at lower boost and result in a slower transition to full boost. "

Hope this helps dude. Best of luck.

:D Cheers Earl. The thing is i`ve got a niggling doubt.... WHY did/do they still make the bleed type? Is there some major drawback to the spring/ball type that i`ve missed.

Oh well, think i`ll just go and fit one and see what happens!!!

Whats the worst thing that can happen? Oh yeah. I start drinkin Dr Pepper. :D

The bleed type one is just a hole, this is very cheap. The ball and spring one (relief valve) is slightly more expensive to make, as there are actually some moving parts.

get one from Martin Farrell www.k1ano.co.uk £25 IIRC
