Circuit diagram for 2009 Toyota Estima Hybrid head unit.

I have just bought a 2009 Toyota Estima Hybrid without a head unit. I was told that it came without one. I was just wondering if there is any way to get some sort of info about the connectors as there are several but without any labels. I am considering getting a 10.1 inch android head unit but they obviously will not be a direct fit for Toyota and the ones being sold as direct fit are far too expensive (around £300).

Any help would be appreciated.

If you have Toyota amplifier it’s won’t be easy. What Grade is your Estima? X or G?

if your car without amp it’s straight forward installation with adapter from eBay. Search for Toyota to ISO or something like this. When I changed head unit on my motor I requested adapter for Toyota plug from seller.

Here are some photos of the cables. The radio antenna cable is rather short so it's not visible in the photos but is present.

For the benefit of anyone that might be looking for the same information:

I've managed to find the system that was probably installed on this Estima. It's the Toyota DSZT-YC4T system that comes only in Japanese language with some English it seems.

Some of the extra connectors are for external USB and VTR port. The external port however is either not present or hidden somewhere in the car. I will try and follow the cables to check if I can find where they end up. The wires numbered 1 to 4 are the film antenna that is on the top of the windscreen and is probably for receiving TV. There is also a small push switch and a small mic on the steering column which has a connection going to the head unit wiring loom and this mic is used for voice commands for the navigation.

Here's a link to someone selling this unit.

So I've bought a cheap Chinese 10 inch Android head unit from eBay for £52. It seems pretty good for the price. The bluetooth connection has some issues because it connects to the phones without any problems but not the ODB2 adaptor despite being able to find it. It's most likely software issue and should be possible to sort it out with some tweaking around. Sound is not bad at all and I have been able to install Sygic so offline navigation is working. I also ordered a made to measure replacement fascia panel from Ali express and it fits perfectly. Here's a link if someone wants to order one.

I also ordered direct connectable wiring harness on eBay which hasn't arrived yet as it's coming from China. No one appears to be selling it in the UK!

So I received the wiring loom and everything else is perfect fit except the steering control switch part. So I tested and the connections on the white 20 pin socket in the car and basically there are 3 pins next to one another and 2 of them that have power on them when I connect a voltmeter and press the volume + or - buttons or forward or back button on the steering wheel and other one with mode so I connected them to the SW1 and SW2 wires from the head unit. The 3rd one next to them says ground from steering wheel in circuit diagrams on most pinouts available online for Toyota so I connected that one to ground of the car. When I try and use the setting on head unit for steering learn, it says successful without me even pressing any buttons. If I take the ground off then it says unsuccessful.

I decided to remove the 3 wires to the steering wheel control connector but now there is nothing coming to the 3 wires as before. I've checked all the fuses that I could find in the car (the 2 fuse boxes in the engine compartment and the one which is located above the footwell on drivers side and has fuses for the cigarette lighter etc) but haven't found any blown fuses. If you have any ideas please let me know. Is there any other fuse box for the steering wheel controls or is there something else that might have gotten damaged? The cruise control on the steering wheel works as it should so I assume it is an independent circuit and hasn't been affected.

Thanks

You won't be able to connect to your OBD11 reader because these cars run JOBD, not OBD11 (USA) or EOBD (Europe) .
