Hi guys,

lately my Aygo has started making weird knocking/scratching noises. The car has 97.000 km on the clock, i've fitted a new waterpump+belt 6.000 km ago. As far as i can tell the noise originates from the alternator/ac-area. The weirdest thing is that the sound is definitly getting louder as the engine warms up, the video i linked was recorded after a 25km crosscountry/autobahn drive. The noise is mainly audible at idle and low speeds, though i am not shure if that is actually due to the noise quieting down or wind and tire noises drowning it out. I linked a video with a recording of the noise. Do you guys have any ideas what the sound could be? Broken alternator bearing? Rod knock? Cat Rattle?

Thanks in advance, here's the vid

Sounds like the timing chain is slapping against its cover. Not saying it is but it sounds like it.

Take the alternator belt off and see if the noise goes away. Plus you can spin the waterpump and alternator to see what the bearings are like.
